      Improving the image of the city as a cycle friendly and safe. The aims are to show citizens the positive aspects of cycling and what the surrounding area has to offer for cyclists to find communication tools that will promote efforts that raise the image of cycle friendly cities.

      Improving the image of the bicycle as a mode of transport. In many countries today, the bicycle is not seen as a serious mode of transport and its advantages are not clear to people. Cycling is connected with sports or recreation and is also seen as an 'unsafe' way to travel. There is a need for new and refined communication channels and methods. The aim is to make the bicycle as serious as Public transport and cars and the services available for public transport and cars should be equally advanced for cycling.

      Practical and useful tips to reach this objective; Lack of knowledge of cycle routes is a barrier to cycling and also reduces the safety of cyclists if they are unsure of their route; Mobile and internet services could be a help (for example development of bicycle travel planner, Development of Mobile phone technology/SMS services for improving journey planning for cycling).To reach especially younger people, much of the communication needs to be done through digital social media;

      Increasing the individual will to cycle; The three activities to encourage more people to cycle are:

            1.   Cycling event: to encourage participants to change travel habits through a dedicated coaching in order to help the participants to find their own motivation!

            2.   Cycling Challenge: a way to stimulate people to start cycling! Through a competition, often in teams, with prices or incentives involved.

            3. Changes in life: the moments when people's lives change, can be used to promote the bicycle.
